The Department of Human Services in New Jersey showed that Monmouth and Ocean are the two counties ranked top for the rates of substance use in the state. They are closely followed by Middlesex, Camden, and Essex.

Even so, alcohol is the main substance of choice across New Jersey. It is closely followed by marijuana, cocaine, opiates, and heroin. In 2015, for instance, these drugs were responsible for thousands of addicts checking into treatment centers in the state.
